Inspired by childhood time sitting under the laundry lines at our California beach house in Playa del Rey and titled,"Laundry on the Line," I created this image to convey the simple pleasure of watching the shapes of clean laundry flap in the wind over my head as the birds chirp at me. When I was 3 and 4 years old, my other often sent me to the backyard to "chase the birds away from the clean clothes. I loved sitting there amid a vortex of flapping and chirping. It's a lively composition and a rainbow of bright colors.
I developed this style in the mid 1990's and popularized it in the home design world with my "Cristina Acosta" signature line of ceramic tile and licensed products. I wrote and illustrated, Paint Happy!, ©2002, 2004 published by North Light Books. Paint Happy, by Cristina Acosta (me) demonstrates a variety of art instructions and concepts with this series of images. This style was my dominant art style from 1994-2006.
