Media and Technical aspects of art: Water media with graphite, charcoal and metal layered with resin.

Inspiration: Environmental degradation and loss of habitat leave the next generation of wildlife in jeopardy. Painting this piece, I struggled with the image, at first striving to create an image of the wild (a baby bear) against the geometric “plastic/fluorescent” lines symbolizing human presence. The resin layer slumped to symbolize rain. I then broke down the resin layer, purposely gouging the wood substrate, haphazardly nailing it in place. I added more drawing - the figures of a male and female fawn. More layers of drawing and resin finished the piece. As many Spring skiers know (and other mountain-goers), spring snow picks up dirt quickly as it freezes and thaws into the watershed. The splashes of white and black reference the season both literally and symbolically. The binary color scheme of the reference speak to humankind's next leap as the binary system of computer programing hasten the transition of culture.
