Color Conversations with Cristina

Color does more than convey a mood or set off a room. Color is a language that continually evolves with the cultures that contribute the shades and tones of meaning each of us sees. Artist and Color Consultant, Cristina Acosta, shares her insights and expertise about the colors in your life – your home – your business.

What Can I Expect?

I don’t get bossy and insist on certain colors that you must use. If you don’t have any color choices in mind, no worries, my process will evoke enough with which to work. Using you own color choices and your building or room as a starting point, I bring my knowledge to the color choosing process to help you fit your best colors in your home, office or business. Creating a successful color plan usually takes only a few hours for a residence. I can work with you or your design team.

What Happens in a Color Consult meeting?

  1. Meeting with you on-site, I’ll guide you through a color choosing process I’ve developed. Please include any samples of existing colors (wood trims, stones, flooring, textiles, etc).
  2. Together we’ll create a color plan that works with everything in your space. We’ll also figure out placement of the colors, so that your color choices will flow well throughout the architecture of your home or other project.
  3. When the appointment is over I will send you a report detailing your color palette and placement notes for every room.
  • Your report: A text report detailing the paint colors, sheens, etc. as well as any design ideas we may discuss with placement notes.Large paint sample papers that you can file and you to coordinate with your future furniture, decor and textile purchases.

How much does it cost?

If you live in Oregon (where I am based), the cost is per hour with a minimum depending upon how long of a trip I have to make.

Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore and Pittsburgh Paints are the top 3 National paint brands. There are also excellant specialty and regional paint brands available. Buy the best quality paint you can afford for the best results. High quality paint has more solids, consistent pigmenting and better wearability.

Color consulting in Bend, Oregon or Portland, Oregon is usually $150. for the first hour and $125. for every hour thereafter. I travel regularly between the two cities, so this includes towns along my route. Large projects may be billed on a day rate or project bid. Projects outside of those areas are usually billed on a day rate.

If I travel a long way to see you, the cost will be my travel expenses plus a per diem and day-rate.
