Image Inspiration:
Our family friend, Hans Oesch was a test pilot for Lancair, a local plane manufacturer. I met him in a communication NLP class and we immediately liked each other. He was from Switzerland, and was unhappily settled in the town north of us. I convinced him to move to Bend. With his sunny demeanor and open personality, he quickly became a favorite within my circle of friends and family. Our daughter especially loved him. He would often talk about the beauty of the places he traveled to. One of his special places was a villa in the south of Italy. I never went there, but from his description, this is what I pictured. While piloting the test plane, there was an accident, and he passed on. I painted this piece so that I would always remember the sunshine Han's brought to me, my family and friends. It's also a more universal reminder to look for beauty and joy whenever we can.
This image is in my paint happy style based on my book, Paint Happy!
