Inspiration:
The first house I remember living in was built on the leeward
side of sand dune in Playa del Rey, California. We lived there
until I turned six. My mother would send me down the weathered
wood back steps to play on the dune that formed our backyard.
I'd sit on the sand under the umbrella laundry pole and play
with my toys. The salty sea wind tousled and tossed the
laundry, snapping it at the sun. The pole would creak and turn.
Seagulls and songbirds on the lookout for a snack would
circle down to the sand and wait for me to throw a piece of my
graham cracker towards them.
