Mysterious depths of color and space alternate with rich surface textures. Juxtaposing flat space and pattern with various layers of form and deep space, Cristina creates images that range from the prosaic to the profound. Common to all of these images are lyrical botanical motifs. The rhythm and structure of the motifs reinforce the surface plane of the image in contrast to the depth created by the layers of polychrome glazes. Some of these paintings are large.
