Image Inspiration:
Center panel
The panel is the "present moment" in the Nativity story. The
holy family is centered amid a gleaming gold colored field
embellished with flowers and studded with crystals. Above them,
Angels dance through the heavens. Below them, two doves share
an olive branch, symbolizing the promise of peace and love
as a gift to the world.
Side Panels
In the style of a Santos with a Byzantine influence, the side
panels represent the past and the future of the Nativity story.
The past is on the left-- The Annunciation. The Angel Gabriel
appears to Mary and tells her of her destiny to be the mother
of Jesus. She dances with joy at the news. The future panel is
on the right -- The Magi are to come bringing gifts to
Jesus.
Backside of the
altar
The ex-voto folds to reveal back panels painted with blue, red
and purple swirl designs and embellished with metallic
gold-colored stars and crystals.
