Letter from Cristina
Take the time to be happy -- or at least
follow the advice of our founding fathers and pursue happiness!
In the past, I've often been so in the
habit of working that I neglected the habit of fun, I was
certainly out of balance. The usual hardships and happinesses
of maturity have changed my viewpoint.
The good things in life have given me a
broader perspective. I watch our daughter and her friends grow
from babies to young adults in a seemingly blink of an eye. The
seasons seem to spill one into the next faster than ever.
Contemplating this has led me to the conclusion -- it's time to
have more fun!

At first, it was a tough concept. (What can
I say -- I like my work!) Nonetheless, I've been changing my
attitude. The first thing I did was find a way to make the
things I feel I need to do more fun. With that in mind --
"exercise" has become "play" -- and a great way to share good
times with friends and family. I've even started racing in a
few multi-sport or skate ski races -- an experience that gave
me more solitude than I bargained for the first few years! Now,
I'm fit and skilled enough to at least see other racers on the
course and get over the finish line before all of the snacks
are gone!
My latest enthusiasm is Stand up Paddle
Surfing. It's a great sport to paddle inland waters or surf
ocean waves. My husband's site www.standuppaddlebend.com shares the
stoke and had lots of pictures and tips to get you
started in the sport.

I spent a few weeks in Cuernavaca, Mexico to attend an SLI
language school and brush up on my Spanish. I was
there during the Dia de los Muertos celebration Nov. first and
second. The celebration has special
meaning to me and I was fortunate to experience the holiday
in Ocotopec, Mexico, about a 15 min. drive.
