Center Panel
This is a vision of Mary (the Madonna) as a joyful, vibrant, fertile woman enjoying herself as she nurtures the ultimate gift, life.  She dances on a ball of silver light, celebrating the early months of pregnancy. A baby and young child swim and swirl in nurturing seas replenished by her flowing breasts. The Madonna’s arms are raised and bathed in a gold light that flows skyward to a trio of flying bluebirds representing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Side Panels
Each side panel reveals palm trees on an island in a sea of fish and flowers. One island has a single palm tree, the other island has two. The trees are guardians or possibly the Holy Trinity. The background is a deep purple and burgundy as if the moon and stars transformed the darkness into glowing red light. An abundant black floral motif spills from the Madonna’s mantle into the surrounding waters.

Back Panel
The ex-voto folds to reveal a single red lily on each side panel. The surface is textured metal leaf with a purple and red undercoat.
